My Week In Beulah – Lauren Mellor – Day 1

This week’s My Week In Beulah is model and philanthropist Lauren Mellor. She chose her favourite pieces from the Autumn Winter 2017 collection, and shows how she styles them here.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

Christy Turlington. She’s accomplished everything I hope to do. A successful modelling career, mother and founding a successful non-profit that empowers and looks after women around the world. Turlington’s Every Mother Counts is devoted to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother. Mable, my very small feminine hygiene project is aimed at providing girls and women with feminine hygiene kits and menstrual education. And obviously Nelson Mandela. What a man. We miss him.

What is your favourite flower?
Sweet peas and tulips.

How would you describe your personal style?
I like things loose fitting, flowy clothes, sneakers and a top knot. I like to be able to move easily from running to catch a flight to curling up on a couch with tea. Being comfortable is key for me.

What is your favourite Beulah piece this season?
I love the Portia Geometric Print Shift Dress and the Aurora Star Print Tiered Gown which has such beautiful movement.

What do you think Beulah stands for and the work it does through The Beulah Trust?
I think Beulah stands for women empowerment and freedom. The Beulah Trust is a pure example of bringing together ones talents and passions to help others less fortunate.

What drives you most in the work that you do?
The modelling allows me to travel the world which feeds my forever wanderlust soul as well as provides me with the means to go home to South Africa for 3 months a year. ( escaping the London winter 😉 )
During those months I spend quality time with my family and fulfil my growing purpose to educated and help those less fortune through Mabel. Modelling has given me so many wonderful opportunities in life.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Mabel. We taught a women’s group in Kafue National Park, Zambia who had no access to tampons or pads how to sew their own reusable feminine hygiene kits and educated them and the girls at the community school on menstruation. We also turned the women’s group into a micro-enterprise where they now sell the kits to neighbouring communities. I also climbed Kilimanjaro this year which I’m pretty chuffed about 🙂

What’s the best place to eat / hang out in London?
I love a brunch at Dishoom. The egg and bacon naan is ridiculous.

What is the best city you have been to?
If I skim across the world West to East.
Medellin, Colombia to Barcelona, Spain and Jaipur, India

What is your favourite way to travel?
Train its by far the most relaxing.

If you had to live in another country where would you move?
I could give India a try.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
Now now and just now.

Where and when is your next trip?
I’m off to Denmark tomorrow and then Morocco for a holiday.
Can. Not. Wait.

If you could swap wardrobes with anyone who would it be?
Erin Wasson. Simple, stylish with amazing jewellery.

Where do you look for fashion inspiration?
My girlfriends in New York are normally spot on
